The Family Connections project is a research to practice partnership coordinated by the Family Journeys Co-Lab. At the Family Journey Co-Lab, located at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, we are interested in connecting with those in the community engaged in supporting children, youth, and families. Through research, consultation, and dissemination, we aim to co-create the knowledge base and tools that communities need to meet their goals.

NC Parenting and Virtually Reality Study.

We are seeking mothers (both in recovery from addiction as well as those not in recovery) aged 18 and older who have a child aged 2-6. The goal of the study is to learn about the stress response of mothers to child tantrums. Mothers will participate in a one-hour research study involving surveys and watching videos via Virtual Reality. We provide a $30 gift card in appreciation.  Call us at 919-590-9172 or via email at fjcstudies@unc.edu. The UNC Family Connections Study

We are seeking mothers (aged 18 and older) who have a child aged 6-12 and are in recovery and have at least 30 days abstinence from their drug of choice. The goal of the study is to learn how mothers in recovery from addiction define, recognize, and foster emotions that connect their children to others such as gratitude, generosity, and love. In a 90-minute session, mothers will complete an online survey and interview at UNC or a treatment or recovery center. We provide a $30 gift card in appreciation. Call us at 919-590-9172 or via email at fjcstudies@unc.edu. Study ID#23-0888 approved by the UNC Institutional Review Board (919-966-3113) or IRB_subjects@unc.edu.
